I’ve stopped.

No training, no regular work out and no preparation for the run. And still, you are able to push yourself to move your legs and hit the mark. It’s bewildering but one thing someone can learn from this is that on any given day, your mental stamina beats physical fitness.

Your body can only be with you for 50% of the distance in case of long runs but what really gets you going is the determination and madness to just do it. Even though Nike said it but you have to JUST DO IT. The energy that one requires partially comes from the drinks and fruits but mostly comes from the spirit of the people around. The cheer and the moment has a lot more to contribute than your general health.

Of course if your body is weak you might collapse but miracles do happen and once you are a part of it, they seize to seem like miracles. Our heart+brain+soul has lot more than physical strength.

But again, without a precondition certain activities are impossible. However, beyond that “given” everything is up to our will-power.

Run for joy, run for peace, run for glory, run for nothing.

Just run.

But sir, i simply don’t care. Worse, i am annoyed.

In the mid-nighties, two superstars emerged in the hindi film industry. One is popularly known as SRK and the other Aamir Khan. They created a rage with their persona and the success of their films. Yes, a lot of their respective films failed to make an impact. However, that era in Indian cinema has one of the deepest footprints of these two actors.

Somewhere down the line, both these actors decided to invest in film making and eventually opened their own production house. Aamir Khan productions’ first film Lagaan went on to be the 3rd Indian film since 1958 to be nominated for Academy Awards. The production house has made 6 films till date, each of which is unique in its own way. None of these films were run of the mill, were framed with a good script and showcased proper direction.

And then there’s this Red Chillies E.

Yes?

The number of movies produced till date is 12 (double that of AKP). Almost none of them show a strong script. Some of them are mind-blowingly boring. A few made it big in box office but mostly because of a decent screenplay.

However, what is baffling is the company’s latest film.It has broken all records when it comes to money spent in film making, claims to have used cutting-edge SFX, has roped in a top artiste to compose and sing a song and without a doubt has digitally advertised the movie like no other indian film ever has.

All this and then you watch the promo-video. The movie’s teasers vomit out unbearable characterisation, clichéd dialogues and some shabby performances. All the joy that’s built up transforms into a frown. Being involved in the creative industry seems to be all about developing strategies to make money, however crappy the creative product is. Success seems to be a more lucrative reward than creative satisfaction. And the age-old belief that true creativity does not sell seems to be true.

But the biggest jolt is underestimating audience intelligence and delivering sub-standard entertainment.

The brightest thing about the film is that one song sung by Akon which is fun to hear but once again, horrible to watch. The treatment of the song, its choreography and the costume design all look mismatched with the spirit of the song, the cultural reference and common aesthetic sense. Once again, the song is great to hear PERIOD

Despite all this, if the film itself cannot justify the hype, how on earth can someone who watches films with love refrain from being hurt?

What’s different about AKP? It’s all the same yet very different.The world will wait for the film, talk about it with great excitement and in the end will be rewarded with some great 150 minutes of their lives. It’s all creative and it sells! The price paid is probably more in respect than in money. But even the money is well paid!

Take the P away from AKP and add ON, you get Red Chillies. And these chillies blind you.

Somewhere, it’s better that way. Mostly nothing is worth watching.

The theory of evolution, life, death, survival etc is all defined by the human-kingdom. Food, kill, peace, violence, space, air, water everything has its importance and definition within the ‘sensible’ world of mankind.

How can we then consider human-development as development in an absolute sense? Our brains enable us to do what we do but ‘is what we do the right thing to do?’.

Zillion philosophies and theories exist that talk about new-stable-systems, relativity and human behavior. However, when one watches the human discoveries and studies on the details of evolution and life in the wild, it’s a little jolting to ‘understand’ and ‘realise’ that most of what we do is with ignorance. Our brains might be thought catalysts but it’s the same entity which pushes us into doing things defining them as ‘higher understanding’.

Sometimes, it irks to even move a finger when you start to realize that even that affects something that we don’t know about.

It’s weird that the more we learn, the more scared we get to learn more.

ABC people consider the century old customs as the primary governing ordinance for your lifestyle. They creatively combine contemporary world with the outrageously insignificant ceremonies to produce a hypocritical approach towards life.

Some examples of this creative combination are :

• A domestic help in her mensuration period  will not be allowed in the house during a ceremony while the same women with an abdominal pain will be made to do all the household work the next day.
• A family member with a tiring work-life will be expected to be home before dark, will be not allowed to sleep when the sun is setting even if they have worked over 15hrs.
• Whether you can be polite to someone who works hard all day is immaterial if you can’t chant the verses for your god.

Most of these relationships are born out of an urge to be in a “love-setup”. So, without giving the parameters a lot of thought, people venture into another person’s heart with a lot excitement. There is expectation of warmth and sex by default. But minimal expectations are set for themselves.

Here begins the amusement ride.

• Meet-ups called dates.
• Food outings called candle-light dinners.
• Birthday gifts called showing love.
• Hugs and kisses called getting closer.
• Long walks called dreaming together.
• Tele-fights called knowing each other better.
• Boredom called ‘break-up’

In some cases these usual activities actually nurture the bond. However, most cases get typecast and fall prey to the urban-love-fashion.

Even that’s ok. The real test begins once the joy ride is over.

Those with a strength of character will ponder, worry and mostly figure out the solution. This will not guarantee the success of the relationship but will ensure that the people understand the bond that they have.

But those who are naive, impatient, troubled, desperate or plain casual will fail to see through the problems. And in an attempt to get-over or ignore the frustration, they will add a new dimension to the bonding (temporarily called the love-triangle). However, eventually the new dimension is supposed to stretch and break the old one. This leads to the live-burial of the puppy-love and air-launch of the dirty-affair.

In the urban-dictionary, this is called a ‘rebound affair’. Whatever the term be, it’s infidelity. And this infidelity is not towards the other person but to the whole idea of love, warmth, surrender and a deep wholesome experience. Most of us come out of a relationship via insulting pair-bonding to a great degree.

Both the success and failure of a relationship are healthy. In case of a successful one, you are rewarded with an indefinible experience for as long as you want. In case of failure, entities leave with a lot of learning which in turn benefits future ventures.

However, under the weakness of charater the by-product is a 3D love story. People cheat, people are unfaithful, people ‘can’ fall weak. But it’s atrocious when they justify it and cover it up. Reasons such as ‘lack of faith and uncertainity in the relationship that drove them to newer avenues’ are commonly used then.

What you get as a result is deranged human beings who would’ve forever lost the gift of love. The species of midget-minds spreads like virus. It propagates through time and makes up for a dark story for the future generations. Howeve, It’s a pity that it’s inevitable.
